Guterres: Attacks on civilians are prohibited under international law
New York, April 14 (Hibya) – UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres stated that attacks targeting civilians are prohibited under international law and must end immediately.
Guterres expressed deep concern over the missile attack carried out by Russia on Sunday against the Ukrainian city of Sumy.
He said this attack continues a devastating pattern of similar strikes, stressing that attacks on civilians are forbidden under international law and must cease without delay.
Reiterating his call for a lasting ceasefire, Guterres added, “I reaffirm the UN’s support for meaningful efforts toward a just, lasting, and comprehensive peace that fully upholds Ukraine’s sovereignty, independence, and territorial integrity.”
