Herzog: Zikim beach reopened as a place of remembrance and renewed life
Jerusalem, May 26 (Hibya) - Israeli President Isaac Herzog paid tribute to those who lost their lives during a memorial ceremony held at Zikim beach.
Herzog attended the memorial and reopening ceremony at Zikim beach, which was targeted during the October 7 attacks.
Herzog stated that the beach had once been a place of freedom and family gatherings, but on the day of the attack it became the scene of great loss and tragedy.
During the ceremony, 18 people who lost their lives at the beach were commemorated and memorial candles were lit.
At the opening of the memorial and renewal area established at Zikim beach, Herzog said that such places carry both mourning and hope.
The president stated that the reopening of the area symbolizes the determination not to surrender to fear and to continue life.
