In a statement by the IDF, it was reported that Sharif al-Hasnat, identified as the commander of Hamas' Deir al-Balah battalion, was targeted in an attack carried out in the area today.
The IDF claimed that throughout the war, al-Hasnat played a role in Hamas' efforts to rebuild its underground infrastructure.
The statement alleged that the Hamas member had recently continued advancing plans for attacks against Israeli Defense Forces and Israeli citizens.
The IDF stated that al-Hasnat posed an "immediate threat" to Israeli forces and was therefore neutralized.
The Israel Defense Forces announced that Southern Command units have been deployed in the area as part of the agreement and continue their activities.
The IDF stated that the units will continue operations to eliminate threats that may emerge in the area.
