The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) announced that an Israeli civilian was the target of a stabbing attack while responding to a fire near the settlement of Itamar in the West Bank.

According to the IDF, the incident occurred during a fire that broke out in the morning near the settlement of Itamar, within the Samaria Brigade's area of responsibility. While firefighting efforts were underway, two attackers stabbed and wounded an Israeli civilian.

The statement said that another Israeli civilian at the scene noticed the attack and neutralized the two assailants.

The injured person was evacuated to hospital by an IDF 669 Search and Rescue Unit helicopter and is receiving medical treatment.

Following the incident, Israeli security forces launched search operations around the village of Beit Furik and placed the village under lockdown.

The IDF also announced that Fire and Rescue teams from the Judea and Samaria District, together with the Shin Bet and police investigators, had launched an investigation into the cause of the fire that broke out before the incident.
