IDF: Weapons and ammunition seized in southern Lebanon
Tel Aviv, July 29 (Hibya) - The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) announced that numerous weapons and ammunition, said to belong to Hezbollah, were seized during operations in southern Lebanon. The military also said warning shots were fired at a suspect approaching Israeli troops.
The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) released a statement regarding its activities in southern Lebanon.
According to the statement, troops from the 91st Division continue operations in the security zone to locate and destroy weapons and ammunition said to belong to Hezbollah. It added that dozens of weapons and ammunition were seized during recent operations.
According to the IDF, troops from the 401st, 4th and 300th Brigades found Kalashnikov rifles, RPG launchers, explosive devices, hand grenades, magazines and various military equipment.
The statement also said that the 869th Reconnaissance Unit identified a suspect in the Ras al-Bayda area who was alleged to pose a threat to Israeli forces. Soldiers from the 55th Brigade fired warning shots in an attempt to drive the individual away. When the suspect continued approaching despite the warnings, the forces intervened.
