Iran calls for urgent UN Security Council meeting
New York, June 22 (Hibya) – Iran’s Permanent Representative to the UN, Amir Said Iravani, stated that the U.S. attacks on Iran constitute a clear violation of international law and the UN Charter, and called for an urgent meeting of the UN Security Council.
In a letter to the President of the Security Council and the UN Secretary-General, Iravani wrote: “There is no doubt that the U.S. military aggression against [Iran’s] sovereignty and territorial integrity constitutes a blatant violation of international law and the binding international norms enshrined in the UN Charter.”
Iravani also noted that Iran has formally requested an urgent UN Security Council meeting.
