Iranian Foreign Minister Araghchi met with the new head of the WFP office in Iran
Tehran, January 12 (Hibya) - The newly appointed head of the World Food Program (WFP) office in Iran, Maysaa Alghribawy, met with Iranian Foreign Minister Seyyed Abbas Araghchi at the beginning of her mission in the Islamic Republic of Iran.
During the meeting, Alghribawy provided an overview of the humanitarian organization's initiatives in the field of food security, as well as the challenges and obstacles faced by the WFP in the region. She called for continued interaction and cooperation between the Islamic Republic of Iran and the WFP to facilitate the organization's mission in Iran and the broader region.
Alghribawy also expressed gratitude to the Islamic Republic of Iran for hosting millions of Afghan citizens, including migrants and refugees, and reaffirmed the WFP's commitment to supporting Iran as one of the largest host countries for refugees.
Araghchi extended his best wishes to Alghribawy in her new role and reaffirmed Iran's approach to cooperation with specialized UN agencies, including the World Food Program.
He also emphasized that addressing the humanitarian crisis, particularly the situation of refugees and migrants in West Asia, requires comprehensive regional and international cooperation, especially from European countries.
