Kallas: EU has an interest in Lebanon's stability and security
Brussels, October 8 (Hibya) - European Union High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Kaja Kallas announced that the EU will increase its political, economic and security support for Lebanon.
European Union High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Kaja Kallas commented on the EU's policy toward Lebanon and security cooperation.
Kallas stated: "The EU has a clear interest in a stable, prosperous and sovereign Lebanon. We back this with comprehensive political, economic and security support."
Kallas said that a new EU support mission would be established to provide training and advice to the Lebanese Armed Forces, noting that this would mark a significant step forward in security relations.
Kallas announced that EU foreign ministers are expected to give final approval for the establishment of the mission next Monday.
