Trump calls Elon Musk a "national treasure"
Washington, October 8 (Hibya) - US President Donald Trump described Elon Musk as a "national treasure" and the "modern-day Thomas Edison," highlighting his significant technological achievements through SpaceX, Starlink, Tesla and Neuralink.
US President Donald Trump praised Elon Musk, saying that Musk has made significant contributions to advancing the national interests of the United States.
Trump described Musk as "an industrial titan, a brilliant engineer and one of the greatest technology founders of all time," stating: "Frankly, there is nobody like him. Very few Americans in history have done more to advance America's national interests than Elon."
Trump noted that Musk founded SpaceX in 2002 and that the company successfully launched a privately developed liquid-fueled rocket into orbit, saying SpaceX has played an important role in US space exploration. Trump also celebrated SpaceX's safe return of the Crew-12 crew from the International Space Station.
Trump also highlighted SpaceX's Starship rocket and the Starlink satellite communications network, saying that Starlink helped provide communications during a hurricane in North Carolina and assisted in rescuing hundreds of people.
Turning to Tesla, Trump described Musk's company as "the first successful new automobile manufacturer established in more than 75 years." Trump also recalled a story about a report his uncle, John Trump, had prepared for the US government concerning Nikola Tesla.
Trump noted that Musk, through Neuralink, is working on technologies for people who have lost the ability to see, speak or move, and argued that Musk has also achieved a prominent position in artificial intelligence.
At the end of his remarks, Trump described Musk as the "modern-day Thomas Edison," saying: "You're my friend, but you're a very, very special person. Thank you very much, and congratulations, Elon."
