European Union (EU) Commissioner for Enlargement Marta Kos condemned Russia's overnight missile and drone attacks on Kyiv, stressing that Europe must ensure Russia fails in this war.

Describing the humanitarian impact of the attacks, Kos said: "Russia attacked Kyiv throughout the night with missiles and drones. People were killed in their homes. Children are among the injured. EU personnel had to be evacuated to shelters."

Pointing out that diplomatic condemnations must be reinforced with concrete action, Kos stated: "Our condemnation must be backed by strong support. Ukraine needs the means to defend itself and a credible path to EU membership."

Highlighting Russia's strategic objectives, Commissioner Kos concluded: "Russia is waging this war to erase Ukraine as a nation and prevent its European future. Europe must ensure that Russia fails."
