Kyrgyzstan warns its citizens about traveling to Russia
Stockholm, March 27 (Hibya) – Kyrgyzstan's Ministry of Foreign Affairs has urged citizens of the Central Asian republics not to make unnecessary trips to Russia following last week's deadly attack on a concert hall outside Moscow.
Speaking to Radio Free Europe in Kyrgyzstan, senior diplomat Bakyt Kadyrov said, "Russia is currently implementing anti-terrorism measures with intensified entry and exit controls for those crossing the border." "The Kyrgyz Embassy in Moscow recommends planning travel to Russia in advance and not visiting Russia unnecessarily," he said.
Kadyrov's warning followed reports of increased police repression against immigrants from Tajikistan and other Central Asian republics, who make up the majority of the country's migrant workforce.
