Lahbib: Belgium is not facing this situation alone
Brussels, August 15 (Hibya) - European Commissioner for Equality, Preparedness and Crisis Management Hadja Lahbib issued a statement regarding the fire disaster that broke out in Belgium, announcing that EU civil protection resources had been deployed to the region.
European Commissioner for Equality, Preparedness and Crisis Management Hadja Lahbib highlighted the efforts to combat the ongoing fires in the High Fens region and announced that the European Union is providing aerial support to the member state.
Emphasizing solidarity in the fight against the flames, Lahbib said, "The High Fens are burning. Belgium is not facing this situation alone. Belgium has activated the civil protection mechanism: one helicopter and two aircraft from our fleet are on their way to provide support."
Expressing her gratitude to the teams on the ground, Lahbib concluded her message by saying, "Many thanks to the firefighters and other services that have been mobilized for hours."
