Lahbib: Humanitarian crisis in Gaza has reached a critical level
Brussels, July 24 (Hibya) - European Commissioner for Crisis Management Hadja Lahbib stated that the humanitarian situation in Gaza has reached a critical level and called for uninterrupted delivery of humanitarian aid.
European Commissioner for Crisis Management Hadja Lahbib commented on the Integrated Food Security Phase Classification (IPC) report.
According to the report, Lahbib said the humanitarian situation in Gaza is at a critical level, with around 1.4 million Palestinians expected to face severe food insecurity throughout 2026, affecting 9 out of every 10 people in Gaza.
Lahbib emphasized that although increased humanitarian assistance following the ceasefire had improved food security, the situation remains extremely severe and the vast majority of Gaza's population still requires humanitarian aid.
She added that the European Union, together with its humanitarian partners, continues to deliver life-saving assistance to Palestinians and stressed the urgent need for humanitarian aid to reach all parts of Gaza fully and without obstruction.
