Lahbib: The EU stands by Lebanon and has allocated 100 million euros
Brussels, April 17 (Hibya) – European Union Commissioner for Preparedness and Crisis Management Hadja Lahbib announced that she welcomed the 10-day ceasefire between Israel and Lebanon.
EU Commissioner Hadja Lahbib, while expressing hope that the ceasefire process would turn into lasting peace, underlined the need to uphold international law and protect civilians.
Expressing her satisfaction with the ceasefire decision, Lahbib said: "I welcome the 10-day ceasefire in Lebanon. I hope it leads to lasting peace. All parties must fully comply with it."
Sharing the amount of humanitarian aid for Lebanon, Lahbib stated: "The EU stands by Lebanon and has allocated 100 million euros to meet urgent humanitarian needs."
Emphasizing the safety of humanitarian operations, Lahbib said: "International humanitarian law must be upheld. Civilians and humanitarian workers must always be protected."
