Lavrov: Cooperation contributes to a multipolar world order
Moscow, June 2 (Hibya) - Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Russia and the Philippines that cooperation between the two countries continues to strengthen in the fields of energy, trade, and diplomacy.
Russian Foreign Minister Lavrov released a video message marking the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Russia and the Philippines.
Lavrov recalled that relations between the two countries date back centuries, noting that the first Russian consulate in Manila was established in 1817. He stated that the modern diplomatic era, which began in 1976, opened a new chapter in bilateral relations.
In his statement, Lavrov emphasized that Russia and the Philippines act on the basis of mutual respect and equality, and stressed the need to expand cooperation in areas such as energy, information technology, agriculture, and tourism.
Lavrov also argued that Russia is a reliable supplier of energy and food to Southeast Asian countries, adding that interparliamentary contacts and ministerial-level dialogues are continuing.
Stating that the international system is evolving toward a “multipolar” structure, Lavrov said that Russia is ready to enhance cooperation within the United Nations framework and deepen its strategic partnership with ASEAN.
The message concluded with an emphasis on future cooperation as the two countries mark the 50th anniversary of their diplomatic relations.
