Leavitt: Trump said tankers passing through the Strait of Hormuz will be escorted
Washington, March 5 (Hibya)- White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt announced that the United States will maintain its global leadership in energy and that naval escorts and a new insurance system for ships will be introduced to protect the flow of energy through the Strait of Hormuz.
White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt shared with the public the new steps taken by U.S. President Donald Trump as part of his “American Energy Dominance” vision. Leavitt emphasized that the United States will maintain its record levels of crude oil and natural gas production while explaining strategies aimed at securing international energy routes.
Stating that President Trump issued a new directive to ensure maritime traffic in the Gulf region, Leavitt said: “President Trump announced that the United States Development Finance Corporation (USDFC) will provide political risk insurance at a very reasonable price for crude oil tankers and cargo ships operating in and around the Gulf.”
Expressing that the United States would not hesitate to use its military power against tensions in the region, Press Secretary Leavitt said, “The President also stated that, if necessary, the U.S. Navy will begin escorting tankers passing through the Strait of Hormuz.”
Leavitt added that all processes, from the use of oil resources in Venezuela to American energy dominance, are managed by a professional team and said:
“Rest assured; President Trump’s entire energy team — from the White House to the National Energy Dominance Council, including Secretaries Wright and Bessent — is planning for this and all of them are focused on this issue!”
