Lula: Amazon records lowest deforestation alert in a decade during first half of the year
Brazil, July 10 (Hibya) - Brazilian President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva announced that, according to data from the National Institute for Space Research (INPE), the Amazon recorded its lowest deforestation alert level in the first half of the year in the past decade.
Brazilian President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva announced that, according to DETER data released by the National Institute for Space Research (INPE), the Amazon recorded its lowest deforestation alert level in the first six months of the year in the last ten years.
Lula also stated that deforestation alerts in the Cerrado region had declined, reaching their lowest level since 2021.
He said the federal government has reinstated environmental monitoring and conservation policies in recent years while strengthening cooperation with states and municipalities.
Lula added that the government's goal is to eliminate illegal deforestation by 2030.
