Sybiha: We welcome the opening of Chapter 6 in the EU accession negotiations
Kyiv, July 10 (Hibya) - Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha said Ukraine welcomes the decision of the EU's Committee of Permanent Representatives (COREPER) to open Chapter 6, "External Relations," for Ukraine and Moldova.

Sybiha thanked Ireland's Presidency of the Council of the European Union and all EU member states for this important step in Ukraine's accession negotiations.
He stated that opening Chapter 6 would strengthen cooperation in foreign policy and defense while bringing Ukraine one step closer to full participation in the EU's external policies. He added that Ukraine continues to fulfill its commitments under this chapter.
Sybiha said Ukraine's priority is full alignment with the EU's Common Foreign and Security Policy, adding that the next step will be the formal opening of Chapter 6 at the Intergovernmental Conference (IGC) on July 14.
