Macron stated that he first conveyed the request for the release of Cécile Kohler and Jacques Paris, saying: "Their detention in inhumane conditions is unjust. I expect them to return to France. I also expressed my deep concerns regarding Iran’s nuclear program."
He emphasized that Iran must never possess nuclear weapons and must provide every assurance that its intentions are peaceful, adding: "I believe there is a path out of war and a way to avoid greater dangers. We will accelerate the negotiations initiated by France and its European partners with Iran to reach this goal."
