Macron: Llosa stood for a love of our literature and universality
Paris, April 14 (Hibya) – French President Emmanuel Macron made a statement following the death of Peruvian author and Nobel Prize laureate in Literature, Mario Vargas Llosa.
Peruvian writer Mario Vargas Llosa, recipient of the Nobel Prize in Literature, has died at the age of 89.
President Macron noted that Llosa was a member of the French Academy and said, “He stood for a love of our literature and for universality.”
Macron added that Llosa, in his works, contrasted freedom with fanaticism, irony with dogma, and upheld an unshakable ideal in the face of the storms of the century.
