Meloni: Employment increased by 185 thousand, unemployment fell to 6.1 percent
Rome, March 12 (Hibya) - Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni announced that employment increased by 185 thousand in the fourth quarter of 2025, while the unemployment rate fell to 6.1 percent.
Italian Prime Minister Meloni stated that the report published by the Italian National Institute of Statistics (ISTAT) regarding the fourth quarter of 2025 shows encouraging signals in the labor market.
Meloni announced that the average number of employed people increased by 185 thousand in 2025 and said, "While the employment rate rose to 62.5 percent, the unemployment rate fell to 6.1 percent. These data continue to indicate a positive trend."
Emphasizing that there is still a long way to go and that there is much to be done to strengthen growth, improve the quality of employment and create more opportunities, Meloni said, "However, these figures confirm that the direction we are following is the right one. We will continue to work with determination to support employment, businesses and growth."
