Pakistan calls on international community over Kashmir
Islamabad, October 27 (Hibya) - Pakistan's Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Muhammad Ishaq Dar called on the international community to work toward a peaceful and lasting resolution of the Jammu and Kashmir dispute in a statement marking Kashmir Black Day on October 27. Dar said Pakistan would continue its political, moral and diplomatic support for the Kashmiri people.
Pakistan's Ministry of Foreign Affairs shared a message issued by Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Muhammad Ishaq Dar on the occasion of Kashmir Black Day, observed on October 27.
The message stated that the Indian Army's entry into Srinagar on October 27, 1947, marked the beginning of a long and painful period in the history of Jammu and Kashmir. The statement presented Pakistan's position that the people of the region had been denied their right to self-determination and alleged that Kashmiris had faced restrictions on fundamental freedoms and human rights violations for decades.
Highlighting the importance of United Nations Security Council resolutions concerning Jammu and Kashmir, the message emphasized the need for a peaceful settlement consistent with the wishes of the region's people. It also outlined Pakistan's position that the international community should play a significant role in achieving a just, peaceful and lasting resolution of the dispute.
The message further alleged that international concerns about the human rights situation in the region had increased following India's unilateral measures on August 5, 2019. It claimed that legal and administrative arrangements, restrictions on fundamental freedoms, demographic and political changes, and the detention of Kashmiri political leaders and activists had deepened distrust among the local population.
The statement also referred to concerns raised by international institutions and human rights organizations regarding the situation of civilians in the region, stressing the need for sustained international attention and concrete action.
Reaffirming Pakistan's support for the people of Jammu and Kashmir, the message stated that the country would continue to amplify their voices in relevant international forums and pursue diplomatic efforts toward a peaceful and just resolution of the issue.
The statement was issued in Islamabad on October 27, 2026.
