Palestine calls on OIC to ensure international protection
Baghdad, October 17 (Hibya) - The Palestinian Foreign Minister called on the international community to protect the Palestinian people and halt Israeli attacks during an address at the 52nd session of the Council of Foreign Ministers of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC).
The Palestinian Foreign Minister addressed the 52nd session of the Council of Foreign Ministers of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, held in Baghdad, the capital of Iraq, on behalf of Palestine. The minister argued that the Palestinian people have faced genocide, ethnic cleansing and ongoing attacks since October 2023.
Calling on the international community and countries that support international law and justice to take action, the minister stressed the need to halt Israeli attacks and settler violence and provide international protection for the Palestinian people. The minister also emphasized that OIC member states must fulfill their political, legal and moral responsibilities.
The minister called for increased political, diplomatic and economic pressure against Israeli measures aimed at changing the situation on the ground and imposing annexation by force. The minister stated that, despite the hardships they face, the Palestinian people remain committed to their legitimate national rights.
The statement also warned that the expansion of settlements in the E1 area near East Jerusalem and the seizure of Palestinian land threaten the territorial contiguity of Palestinian territories and undermine prospects for peace. The Palestinian side stressed that the OIC must assume responsibility in response to these developments.
