Petro: The will of the people will continue to be decisive in Colombia
Bogotá, May 1 (Hibya) – Colombian President Gustavo Petro emphasized the decisive role of the people’s will in state governance and shared his assessments on the constitutional process and reform agenda.
Gustavo Petro, in his statement, conveyed his evaluations regarding democratic processes, constitutional order, and social reforms.
Petro stated that the will of the people is decisive and noted that the government’s approach continues in this direction. He added that the process of social reforms and political transformation in the country is ongoing.
In his statement, Petro also included assessments regarding a possible constituent assembly process, noting that if such a process takes place, measures to strengthen social rights and combat corruption could be brought to the agenda.
Petro emphasized that Colombia’s democratic state structure will be preserved and that new reforms will focus on social policies and the political system.
Petro also pointed out that the aim of the ongoing reforms is to fight corruption, increase opportunities, and strengthen social rights.
