Prevot: 20,500 Ukrainian children were deported and forcibly sent to Russia
Brussels, May 11 (Hibya) - Belgian Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Maxime Prevot drew attention to the situation of Ukrainian children forcibly deported by Russia.
Belgian Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Maxime Prevot drew attention to the situation of Ukrainian children forcibly deported by Russia and announced that the European Union (EU) had decided to impose new sanctions on individuals and entities responsible for these actions.
Sharing figures related to the process, Prevot said, “Since the beginning of this war, approximately 20,500 Ukrainian children have been deported and forcibly sent to Russia. The children were torn away from their families, homes, and identities.”
Stating that this was a deliberate initiative, Prevot said, “They were subjected to brainwashing, militarized education, and forced adoption. Their Ukrainian identities were systematically erased. This is a deliberate policy aimed at stealing a generation.”
Referring to the concrete steps taken by the EU, Prevot stated, “Today, the EU imposed sanctions on 16 individuals and 7 entities directly responsible for these practices, ranging from authorities in occupied territories to state institutions operating re-education camps disguised as youth programs.”
