Russian President Putin sent a message to the participants, organizers and guests of the 4th International Buddhist Forum, held under the theme “Buddhism in the Dialogue of Cultures: The Future of Humanity.”

Putin said it was symbolic that the forum was being held in the Republic of Tuva, considered one of the important centers of Buddhism in Russia, as part of the Year of Unity of the Peoples of Russia.

Putin said Tuva stands out for its rich centuries-old history, natural beauty, and the warmth and hospitality of its people, noting that the region's cultural and spiritual heritage is being preserved and that young people are being raised to respect the way of life and distinctive traditions of their ancestors.

Putin said, “Russia's Buddhist community, an important and integral part of the global Buddhist community, makes a significant contribution to the development of interethnic harmony and the advancement of the ideals of goodness and justice.”

Putin said the Russian Buddhist community is developing cooperation with Buddhist religious organizations and academic institutions abroad on religious, humanitarian and universal issues, and also plays an active role in implementing joint projects and initiatives.

Putin said he believes expanding partnerships, business ties and friendly relations among Buddhists from different countries will provide a solid foundation for strengthening friendship, trust and mutual understanding among the peoples of Eurasia.
