Putin says Russia will take Donbas by force or Ukraine will withdraw
Moscow, December 5 (Hibya) – Russian President Vladimir Putin warned once again that Ukrainian forces must withdraw from Ukraine’s eastern Donbas region, otherwise Russia will seize the area, and he rejected any compromise on how the war in Ukraine might end.
Speaking to India Today, Putin said, “Either we liberate these territories by force, or Ukrainian forces will leave them.” Moscow controls about 85 percent of Donbas.
In an interview given before his official visit to Delhi, Putin said he had not seen the new version before his meetings with Witkoff and Trump’s son-in-law Jared Kushner.
The Kremlin leader added, “That’s why we had to go through every point, that’s why it took so long.”
He also said Moscow disagrees with some parts of the U.S. plan.
Putin said, “Sometimes yes, we can discuss it, but we cannot agree on this matter.”
He did not specify the points of disagreement, which include the fate of Ukrainian territories seized by Russian forces and security guarantees for Ukraine.
