Qatar's Ministry of Foreign Affairs condemned what it described as a raid on Al-Aqsa Mosque by Israel's National Security Minister and Israeli settlers under the protection of the occupation police.

In a statement, the ministry said the action constituted a violation of international law and international humanitarian law and amounted to an unacceptable provocation of Muslim sentiments.

The statement said Al-Aqsa Mosque is a place of worship for Muslims and that unilateral measures aimed at changing the historical and legal status of Jerusalem and the holy sites are invalid under international law.

Qatar's Ministry of Foreign Affairs warned that continued violations and provocations could increase the risk of further violence and tensions in the region and called on the international community to take urgent steps to make Israel halt its violations against the Palestinian people and holy sites and comply with relevant international resolutions.

The statement also said Qatar continues to support the Palestinian cause and the Palestinian people, as well as an end to the occupation and the Palestinian people's right to establish an independent state based on the 1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital.
