Qatar to work with Syria to close chemical weapons file
Doha, July 11 (Hibya) - Qatar's Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Mohammed bin Abdulaziz Al-Khulaifi, welcomed Syria's restoration of its rights and privileges at the Organisation for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW), saying Doha would work closely with the Syrian government to close the chemical weapons file at the organization.
Qatar's Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Mohammed bin Abdulaziz Al-Khulaifi, welcomed Syria's restoration of its rights and privileges at the Organisation for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW).
According to a statement by Qatar's Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Al-Khulaifi said in an interview with Al Jazeera during his visit to Damascus that they discussed a wide range of issues in meetings with Syrian officials.
Al-Khulaifi said: "We congratulated our Syrian brothers on regaining all of their rights and privileges at the Organisation for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons. Following this initiative, which Qatar supported within the organization and which was approved by the member states, we hope to work closely with our colleagues at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to close the chemical weapons file."
