Reciprocal attacks between Iran and the US: Regional tensions escalate
Tehran, June 10 (Hibya) - Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) announced that it had targeted several US military bases in the region in response to recent American attacks.
According to CCTV, Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) announced that it had targeted several US military bases in the region in response to recent American attacks.
In a statement, the IRGC said that a drone attack had been carried out against the US Fifth Fleet in Bahrain and that a US MQ-9 unmanned aerial vehicle had been shot down in Iran's Bushehr Province.
The statement also said that four locations at Ali Al Salem Air Base in Kuwait and Al-Azraq Base in Jordan were targeted with long-range missiles and drone strikes.
The Iranian side stated that the attacks were retaliation for US operations against southern Iran and warned that "stronger responses" could follow.
Meanwhile, the US Central Command (CENTCOM) confirmed that it had conducted operations Tuesday night against Iranian air defense systems, radar facilities, and command-and-control sites.
The latest wave of US attacks came after President Donald Trump claimed that Tehran had shot down a US Apache helicopter in the Strait of Hormuz and said that a "very strong, very effective" response would follow.
The exchange of attacks has further increased the fragility of the ceasefire declared after recent Iran-Israel tensions, while statements from both sides have heightened concerns about the prospects for a diplomatic solution.
