Saar: Our relations with Germany are on an upward trend
Jerusalem, 6 December (Hibya) – Israeli Foreign Minister Gideon Saar described German Chancellor Friedrich Merz’s first visit to Israel as a positive step.
Foreign Minister Saar stated that he was pleased to welcome Chancellor Merz to Israel, emphasizing that Merz is a friend of Israel and that Germany is an important partner.
Saar underlined that relations between the two countries are on an upward trend, reflected in steps such as the partial lifting of the embargo, Germany’s clear stance against boycotts targeting Israel, and its refusal to support the extension of UNRWA’s mandate at the UN.
He also recalled that last week, Israel’s ballistic missile defense system "Arrow" was deployed in Germany for the first time. Saar added that Germany is an important friend of Israel and that Chancellor Merz’s visit will contribute to strengthening the special relations between the countries.
