Search and rescue operations continue after plane crash in the US
Washington, January 30 (Hibya) – An American Airlines plane carrying 60 passengers and four crew members crashed after colliding mid-air with a US Army Black Hawk helicopter while landing at Ronald Reagan National Airport near Washington, prompting a major search and rescue operation in the Potomac River.
The Washington Post reported that multiple bodies were recovered from the water, while NBC stated that four people were pulled out of the Potomac alive.
All takeoffs and landings from the airport near the capital were suspended as law enforcement helicopters flew over the crash site searching for survivors. A US official said there were three soldiers aboard the helicopter.
President Donald Trump stated that he was "fully informed" about the horrific crash and added, referring to the passengers, "God bless their souls."
The Washington Post and other media outlets reported that multiple bodies were recovered from the water.
