Sybiha criticizes Russia's return to international ice hockey competitions
Kyiv, November 1 (Hibya) - Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha described the decision allowing Russian national ice hockey teams to participate in the International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF) World Championship as unacceptable and called for its reversal.
Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha stated in a social media post that Russia continues its attacks against Ukraine and that no changes have occurred that would justify the return of Russian national ice hockey teams to international competitions.
Sybiha criticized the decision of the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS), which allows Russia to participate in the IIHF World Championship, noting that Russian national teams represent a state waging a war of aggression.
Stating that readmitting Russian teams to international competitions would grant Moscow the international legitimacy it seeks, Sybiha called on the international sporting community and partners to take a stand against Russia's reinstatement.
Sybiha also argued that Russian athletes should not be allowed to enter their countries, emphasizing that there should be no return to normal relations while Russia's war against Ukraine continues. He called for the decision to be reversed.
