Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha held talks with European Union High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Kaja Kallas.

Sybiha said he informed Kallas about the consequences of Russia’s latest attacks on Ukrainian cities and civilian vessels in the Black Sea.

Emphasizing that freedom of navigation in the Black Sea is critical to global food security, Sybiha said, “We discussed activating the European Union Solidarity Lanes and the need to continue supporting safe maritime transport.”

Sybiha noted that strengthening Ukraine’s air defense and defense capabilities, as well as increasing pressure on Russia, were also discussed. “Every additional defense capability provided to Ukraine saves lives and strengthens Europe’s security,” he said.

Sybiha also said he briefed Kallas on the results of the Ukrainian delegation’s visit to Washington and his recent phone call with Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi. “We agreed to maintain close coordination,” he stated.
