Syria's Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates announced that Director of the Department of American Affairs Saad Baroud met in Damascus with Venezuela's Ambassador to Syria Jose Gregorio Biomorgi Musatis.

According to the ministry's statement, the Venezuelan ambassador presented Baroud with a letter of thanks from Venezuela's Foreign Minister addressed to Syrian Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Asaad Hassan al-Shaibani.

The letter was said to have been sent in appreciation of Syria's initiative to contribute to response and relief efforts following the earthquake in Venezuela.

The meeting also addressed bilateral relations between Syria and Venezuela and ways to strengthen them.
