Syrian President Ahmed al-Sharaa received Kurdistan Region of Iraq President Nechirvan Barzani and his accompanying delegation in Damascus, where they discussed bilateral relations and regional developments.

According to a statement by the Syrian Presidency, the meeting was held at the People's Palace in Damascus.

Syrian Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Asaad al-Shaibani also attended the meeting.

The talks addressed ways to develop relations between Syria and the Kurdistan Region of Iraq and to strengthen cooperation and coordination between the two sides.

The parties were reported to have focused particularly on opportunities for economic cooperation.

The meeting also covered recent developments in the region and various issues of mutual interest, with the two sides exchanging views on steps that could support security and stability and strengthen regional cooperation.
