Qatar welcomed Syria's removal from the list of state sponsors of terrorism.

In a statement, Qatar's Ministry of Foreign Affairs said the decision would support efforts to achieve stability in Syria and across the region and contribute to advancing the political solution process in accordance with international resolutions.

The statement emphasized Qatar's continued support for Syria's unity, sovereignty and independence, adding that it stands in solidarity with the Syrian people's efforts to achieve security, stability and prosperity.

Qatar's Ministry of Foreign Affairs expressed hope that the development would serve the aspirations of the brotherly Syrian people.
