Sybiha: Canada has proven that our shared commitment to freedom is not only part of history, but also of action
Kyiv, August 25 (Hibya) - Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha thanked Canadian Foreign Minister Anita Anand for the message she issued on the occasion of Ukraine's Independence Day.
Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha said that for Ukraine, independence is not only a great achievement but also a responsibility passed down from generation to generation, noting that his country is defending its independence against Russia's attacks.
Sybiha said, "We are determined to ensure that future generations inherit a free, sovereign and secure Ukraine."
Referring also to Canada's support for Ukraine, Sybiha recalled that Canada was the first Western country to recognize Ukraine's independence in 1991. Sybiha said, "Canada has proven that our shared commitment to freedom is not only part of history, but also of action."
Sybiha also stated that they appreciate Canada's solidarity with the Ukrainian people, as well as Anand's personal leadership and friendship.
