Tajani: We will continue to support the dialogue process for Lebanon's future
Rome, August 25 (Hibya) - Italian Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani announced that he met in Rome with General Rodolphe Haykal, Commander of the Lebanese Armed Forces.
Italian Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani said he met with General Rodolphe Haykal, Commander of the Lebanese Armed Forces, as part of Haykal's visit to Rome.
Tajani stated that he had encouraged Haykal's visit during meetings he held in previous months with Lebanese President Joseph Aoun and Foreign Minister Youssef Raggi.
Noting that the visit followed the latest talks held in Italy between Lebanon, Israel and the United States, Tajani said the talks were aimed at implementing the framework agreement on the disarmament of Hezbollah and the redeployment of Israeli forces.
Tajani said he invited Haykal to continue the ongoing negotiations and stressed that Italy would continue to support the process.
Italian Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Tajani also said that Italy would play its part in line with the scenarios that may emerge following the UNIFIL mission.
Tajani announced that he would also address the issue on Wednesday at a panel dedicated to Lebanon's future during the Rimini Meeting.
