Tajani: 26 Italian citizens detained in Israel are returning home
Rome, October 4 (Hibya) – Italy’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani announced that 26 Italian citizens who were part of a flotilla carrying humanitarian aid to Palestine are leaving Israel.
Tajani stated that the group would return to the country on a charter flight via Istanbul, and that the passengers had been transferred from Ramon Air Base to Eilat Airport.
The minister also said that another 15 Italian citizens would be deported through a judicial procedure, as they had not signed the voluntary evacuation document. This process is expected to take place next week.
Tajani further noted that he had instructed the Italian Embassy in Tel Aviv to ensure that the remaining Italian citizens in the country are treated with full respect for their rights.
