Italy’s Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Antonio Tajani stated that he expressed Italy’s solidarity to the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Türkiye, Hakan Fidan, following violations of Türkiye’s airspace.

Tajani noted that they agreed that it is vital at this stage for all regional actors to show caution and restraint in order to keep dialogue channels open, adding:

"We need to prevent escalation and new tensions in the region.

We believe Türkiye can play a useful role in negotiations. First of all, we will continue to work together to prevent the closure of the Strait of Hormuz and to prevent this war from creating further negative effects on the economy."
