Tanzania and Serbia agreed to establish a Joint Economic Commission aimed at developing trade, investment and economic cooperation between the two countries.

The agreement was discussed during a bilateral meeting between Ambassador Mahmoud Thabit Kombo, Minister of Foreign Affairs and East African Cooperation of the United Republic of Tanzania, and Serbian Foreign Minister Marko Đurić, on the sidelines of the high-level commemorative summit of the Non-Aligned Movement held in Belgrade, the capital of Serbia.

During the meeting, the Tanzanian side raised investment and cooperation opportunities in various sectors, particularly agriculture, mining, energy, infrastructure, transport, tourism, fisheries and the blue economy. Serbia said it was ready to serve as a gateway for Tanzanian companies seeking access to European markets.

The two countries also discussed strengthening cooperation between Air Tanzania (ATCL) and Air Serbia and improving air connectivity between Tanzania and Serbia to support tourism, trade, investment and the mutual movement of people.

The talks aim to enable companies from the two countries to develop new partnerships, assess investment opportunities, expand market access and strengthen economic relations between Tanzania and Serbia.
