Trump's decision to launch ground attacks against drug cartels
Washington, December 25 (Hibya) - U.S. President Donald Trump confirmed that ground attacks against targets linked to drug cartels in Latin America will begin shortly.
According to CCTV, President Trump confirmed that ground attacks against targets linked to drug cartels in Latin America would be initiated soon.
Trump made this statement in a speech to military personnel during the Christmas period.
He noted that the U.S. will now "also turn to the ground" in its fight against drug cartels, stating that drug smuggling via sea routes has decreased by 96%.
Trump also specifically congratulated the crew of the USS Gerald R. Ford aircraft carrier, which is currently stationed in the Caribbean.
For almost four months, the U.S. has maintained a significant military presence in the Caribbean, particularly off the coast of Venezuela, officially to combat drug trafficking.
Meanwhile, some independent experts from the United Nations issued a joint statement condemning the U.S. maritime blockade against Venezuela. The statement described this practice as a "violation of fundamental international law rules" and an "act of armed aggression."
