Tsahkna: The Tallinn-Helsinki tunnel should be seen as a strategic corridor
Tallinn, May 13 (Hibya) - Estonian Foreign Minister Margus Tsahkna emphasized transportation projects and security requirements that would strengthen the region’s integration with Europe during his speech at the Baltic Sea Strategy Forum.
Estonian Foreign Minister Margus Tsahkna shared his assessments on the Baltic region’s transportation network vision and the sustainability of regional security.
Referring to strategic corridor projects, Tsahkna stated, “At the Baltic Sea Strategy Forum, I emphasized that our region needs a broader vision for regional connectivity.”
Highlighting the importance of the Tallinn-Helsinki tunnel, Tsahkna said, “The Tallinn-Helsinki tunnel should be viewed as a strategic corridor extending toward the North Sea, connecting it more directly with wider Europe and integrating it into a broader trans-European transport network.”
Speaking about the impact of security on economic growth, Tsahkna stated, “Security is a prerequisite for growth and prosperity. This means stronger defense, continued support for Ukraine, tougher sanctions against Russia, and accountability through a tribunal.”
