UAE air defense intercepts 10 ballistic missiles and 45 drones
Abu Dhabi, March 17 (Hibya) - The United Arab Emirates (UAE) announced that on March 17, 2026, it neutralized 10 ballistic missiles and 45 unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) originating from Iran.

The UAE Ministry of Defense stated that since the beginning of the attacks launched by Iran, its air defense systems have intercepted a total of 314 ballistic missiles, 15 cruise missiles, and 1,672 drones.
As a result of these attacks, 2 UAE soldiers were killed in the line of duty, while 6 civilians (nationals of Pakistan, Nepal, Bangladesh, and Palestine) lost their lives. Additionally, 157 people of various nationalities—including the UAE, Egypt, Sudan, Ethiopia, the Philippines, Pakistan, Iran, India, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Azerbaijan, Yemen, Uganda, Eritrea, Lebanon, Afghanistan, Bahrain, Comoros, Turkey, Iraq, Nigeria, Oman, Jordan, Ghana, Indonesia, Sweden, and Tunisia—were injured to varying degrees.
The Ministry of Defense emphasized that it remains fully prepared and vigilant against all threats to the country’s security and will continue to protect sovereignty, security, and national interests.
