Ukrainian Foreign Ministry: The Bucha massacre will not be forgotten, accountability will be ensured
Kyiv, March 31 (Hibya) – The Ukrainian Foreign Ministry stated that four years have passed since the Bucha massacre and announced that they are commemorating the civilians who lost their lives.
In a statement, the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry said that Foreign Minister Andriy Sibiha visited Bucha together with European Union officials and paid tribute to those who lost their lives during the Russian occupation. The visit was also attended by EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Kaja Kallas and senior officials from EU institutions.
The statement said: “Bucha is not only a symbol of the atrocities committed by Russia but also a testament to Ukraine’s resilience. The process of liberating our lands began here four years ago.”
The statement emphasized that the crimes committed by Russia must not go unpunished and noted that efforts are ongoing to establish a special tribunal, create a damage registry system, and set up a compensation commission.
It was also stated that the situation on the front line, energy security, and Ukraine’s EU membership process will be discussed at the meeting of EU foreign ministers, adding: “The front line in Ukraine is also the front line of international law and our shared values. Ukraine is Europe, and our place is in the European Union.”
