UNRWA: Support for children in Gaza is urgent and vital
New York, January 6 (Hibya) – The United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA) said that children in Gaza are facing a severe humanitarian crisis under conditions of war and forced displacement.
In a statement, UNRWA stressed that there is no respite or safe space for children in Gaza. The agency said that despite all challenges, it continues to stand by children and that education, protection, and psychosocial support services are being provided without interruption.
The statement noted that children struggling with the traumas of war and displacement urgently need this support, emphasizing that “children cannot be made to wait.” UNRWA called on the international community to take immediate action to protect children’s fundamental rights and meet their needs.
