Tehran, November 7 (Hibya) – According to information obtained from CCTV, US President Donald Trump announced that United States (US) forces had carried out a limited strike against Iran and destroyed an Iranian air defense facility. Iranian media reported that two missiles had struck Qeshm Island.
According to information obtained from CCTV, US President Donald Trump said in a statement on Friday that US forces had carried out a "limited strike" against Iran and destroyed an Iranian anti-aircraft facility.
Iranian media reported on Saturday that, according to preliminary information, two missiles had struck Qeshm Island, the largest island in the Strait of Hormuz and the Persian Gulf. Iranian officials have not yet issued a detailed statement regarding the incident.
It was alleged that the target of the attack was an Iranian air defense missile launcher that had reportedly fired a missile at a fighter jet. The development came amid increasing US threats of further military intervention against Iran.
Israel and the United States launched joint attacks on Tehran and other Iranian cities on February 28. Iran responded with missile and drone strikes targeting Israel as well as US bases and personnel in the region, and tightened its control over the Strait of Hormuz.
A ceasefire was reached between the parties on April 8. On June 18, Iran and the United States signed a memorandum of understanding aimed at ending the war on all fronts in the region.
Under the memorandum, the two countries were expected to begin negotiations within a 60-day period ending on August 17, with the aim of reaching a final agreement on Iran's nuclear program and the lifting of sanctions. However, as tensions continued to escalate, the parties failed to make sufficient progress toward an agreement.
