European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen shared a message on the occasion of Ukraine’s Independence Day.

Drawing attention to the values symbolized by Ukraine’s colors, von der Leyen said, “On the eve of Ukraine’s 35th Independence Day, blue and yellow are shining. They have become the colors of courage, resistance and determination.”

Referring to the illumination of the Commission building and the EU’s support, von der Leyen concluded her statement by saying, “Tonight, they illuminate our building. As a symbol of our unwavering support for our brave neighbors, our trusted partners and our future EU member state.”
