Von der Leyen extended her condolences to the victims of the attack, their families, and their loved ones, stating that Christopher Street Day represents the values of freedom, dignity, and equality.
Emphasizing the European Union's core values, von der Leyen said that everyone should be able to live, love, and stand up for their rights without fear.
"Hate and violence have no place in our societies," von der Leyen said, adding that they stand with the LGBTQI+ community.
